The Birth of Nut Nation
We started this business in early 2009 out of necessity. Like many others, my husband found himself layed off from his job in November 2008. As a result, I decided to put a dream into action. I am a certified nutritionist and I also have over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing. I have always been interested in eating healthy and finding ways to make healthy foods taste good. Being a pistachio lover, I started looking for ways to improve on the already fantastic taste of pistachios. Can't be done, you say? Seasoning and smoking the pistachio was the answer, and it proved to be very unique.
So with some hard work and the help of friends and family, I was able to launch a quality product that is not only unique, but delicious. My husband has been instrumental in the creation of new flavors in the research and development department. If you love these flavors that we offer, he's the guy to thank. If you don't, we're not sure who came up with those flavors.
Today the nuts can be found in several stores in Kansas, including Lawrence, Topeka, Wichita and Kansas City. We're also in several stores around the country. Click on locations to find out where.
Being a CN (that's certified nutritionist, although I've had everything from chief nut to certified nut), I love healthy food that's good for you. Pistachios are a very healthy snack and a great source of manganese and phosphorous. They are also loaded with antioxidants. So, it seemed natural to start a business with a product that was already healthy. All our ingredients are natural, and we use no preservatives or msg.
Nut Nation Pistachioz are seasoned and smoked in electric smokers. That means no charcoal or chemical fluids are used. It's much cleaner and the result is delicious.
P.S. We're often asked why we have a "Z" in the word pistachioz. My stepdaughter Zoe is the inspiration for that. She is very proud of the fact that her name starts with a Z and loves being a part of Nut Nation, so "pistachioz" was born. She's also certifiably nuts (CN) about the pistachioz!
